Gladiators ‘A’ had a hard fought 2-1 win at home to The Blackbird ‘B’ for whom Kevin Giles (4-5-4) and Scott Thompson (5-4-4) both hit a baker’s dozen. The Glad’s won the opening leg with 25 when chasing a set of 20. They then set 24 in the second leg and in reply Blackbird fell just short with 23. The race for the Section 2 title is still up for grabs with the top five teams still with a shout. Leaders Red Lion ‘B’ Kidlington hold a one-point advantage after beating close rivals The Chequers ‘B’ at home 2-1 and they had to do it the hard way after losing the opening leg 18-16. Lion levelled in the second leg 23-19 and in the final and deciding leg Chequers set 18. A poor reply from the Lion left anchor man Steve Ward needing five to win and he was up for the challenge whipping off the winning doll with his final stick. Ward was top dog with thirteen dolls (3-5-5).
Six Bells ‘A boosted their title ambitions with a hard fought 3-0 win at home to Seacourt Bridge who set all three legs. Bells won the first leg by the smallest of margins 19-18 and then were set 21 in the second leg. Mixed throwing by the Bell’s in reply left anchor man Alan Goodgame needing four to win and he did not disappoint by clanging off the winning doll with his last stick. Final leg was more routine 20-14. Ian Sharp was in outstanding form for The Seacourt whipping off 14 dolls (4-5-5), while Stuart Wells top scored for the Bell’s with a dozen dolls (4-3-5).
Red Lion ‘A’ Yarnton kept their title hopes alive when they beat The Chequers ‘A’ and in turn dented The Chequers chances. Some mixed scoring saw the Lion win the first two legs 17-15, 23-19 before The Chequers grabbed an important point in the final leg 16-13.

The Blackbird ‘A’ opened a three-point lead in Section 3 but dropped a point at home to Vikings Sports ‘B’, and it could have been even worse as they had to rely on three sticks in the first leg after it was tied 17-17. Blackbird won the second leg 14-11. In the final leg Vikings set 16 and prevented the whitewash as The Bird could only reply with 11.
Masons Arms ‘A’ are waiting to pounce if The Blackbird slip up, but they let themselves down when they crashed in the final leg at Cowley workers ‘A’. It was going well for The Masons when they just sneaked the first two legs 13-12, 19-17 but could not claim maximum points when they could only set 9 in the final leg. Middle of the table clash between hosts Cricketers Arms Littleworth and Donnington Club ‘B’ was a close contest with The Cricketers winning it 2-1. Chasing a set of 18 in the opening leg, Cricketers left anchor man Dan Porter needing just one to win, and he left it late hitting the winning doll with just two sticks to spare. Donnington levelled in the second leg 21-16. Cricketers secured victory in the last leg 16-13.

In Section 4 Bletchington Sports Club lead a chasing pack of five teams vying for the title. Playing at home to lowly Six Bells ‘B’ Kidlington they were set a score of 13 in the first leg. Second leg chasing a set of 12 this time Harwood needing three to win, went one better and hit four to win the leg with 14. Bells took a deserved point in the final leg 19-18.
Red Lion ‘B’ Yarnton furthered their prospects taking all three legs at home to Six Bells Quarry. Winning the first two legs 14-10, 18-6 they had to rely on a one stick shoot out in the final leg after it was tied 13-13 as well as three sticks.
Duke Of Monmouth stopped a four-game losing streak when they defeated Six Bells ‘C’ 2-1 at home. Losing the first leg 10-12, Duke hit back in the next two legs 15-9, 10-8.

White Hart Wolvercote, who keep battling away each week, seized only their third point of the season when they won the first leg at home to Golden Ball 4-3. This was to be their only success as The Golden Ball won the next two legs 9-5, 12-7.
White Horse had an impressive 2-1 win at home to title challengers Northway Club ‘B’ despite losing the first leg 14-10.
