REPORT WEEK 4
James Morrison was in sensational form as he clanged off 15 dolls (5-5-5) for The New Club and was well supported by teammate Simon Jones who hit a baker’s dozen (4-5-4) however it was all in vain as The Swan ran out 2-1 winners. It started of well for The New Club when they won the opening leg 24-21 but the Swan turned it around in the next two legs winning them both 27-24, 25-23.
Early Premier Section pacesetter The Gladiators lost their first game of the season at The White House 2-1 in a high scoring game. White House set the opening leg with 27 and in reply The Glad’s just fell short by two dolls with 25. Gladiators pulled level in the next leg when they banged in a set of 32 which the White House could only reply with 23. Final and deciding leg Glad’s set again this time with 27. A mixed reply from The White House left anchor man Mick Phipps only needing three to win, however he had to rely on his last stick to clinch the winning doll and with it the leg and game with 28. Captain Martin Cook was top dog for The Gladiators with 14 dolls (4-6-4).
Littlemore British Legion had a straightforward 3-0 home win against Garsington Sports 3-0 in the leg scores of 22-14, 22-19, 18-11.
Yarnton British Legion came away from North Leigh FC with a 2-1 win in some diverse scoring. They won the opening leg by the smallest of margins 27-26, then went two up in the next leg 21-18. North Leigh regrouped and won the final leg for a deserved point 29-23. Ray Grant was in top form for North Leigh with 14 dolls (5-5-4).

In Section 2 Black Horse ‘B’ made it four wins out of four when they beat The Blackbird on their own patch 2-1 in the leg scores of 15-11, 14-13, 16-18.
Josh Breakspear clanged of 14 dolls (3-5-6) and bagged himself a maximum six for The Catherine Wheel ‘C’ in their 2-1 win at The Ampleforth Arms ‘A’. They raced to a 2-0 lead winning both legs 16-15, 21-18 before The Amp won the final leg 26-15.
Duke Of Monmouth tasted victory for the first time this season when they beat hosts Seacourt Bridge 2-1. The opening leg was tied 16-16 with Seacourt winning it on three sticks 10-6. The Duke levelled in the second leg 16-13 and then stormed the final leg setting and winning it 24-14.
Masons Arms ‘A’ had a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Vikings Sports who are still seeking their first win, 18-10, 17-13, 16-11.
Newly promoted Bletchingdon Sports are finding it tough after losing their fourth game on the bounce this time at The Queens Head 3-0 in the leg scores of 18-14, 16-14, 20-15.

Section 3 leaders Cowley Workers lost their first game of the season when they lost at local rivals The Cricketers Arms 2-1 who remain unbeaten. Cricketers batted away Cowley Workers in the first two legs 10-9, 15-11 before the Workers grabbed a point in the final leg 13-12.
New Club ‘B’ Steve Horwood was in superb form clanging off 14 dolls (5-4-5) to guide them to a comfortable 3-0 win at Headington Con club, 14-12, 18-13, 16-12.
Six Bells ‘C’ just got the better over Masons Arms ‘B’ at home 2-1 in a close contest. They set the opening leg with 14 and in reply 3 dolls form anchor man Joe Bandrowski gave the Masons the leg by the odd doll with 15. The next leg The Masons set with 14 and it was The Six Bells anchor man Nick Edmonds who whipped off the 3 dolls needed to give them the leg with 15 to level the scores. The final and deciding leg Six Bells set and won 18-15. Bandrowski top scored with 11 dolls (3-4-4).
Six Bells ‘B’ are still seeking their first win of the season after they lost at The Tandem 3-0 in the scores of 11-9, 18-12, 16-12.
Rose Hill Club beat Northway Club ‘B’ 2-1 17-11, 21-16, 14-18.

Section 4 leaders The George made it four wins out of four when they beat visitors Ampleforth Arms ‘B’ 3-0. They won all three legs 16-14, 14-9, 14-12.
There was some varied scoring between Littlemore British Legion and Northway Club ‘C’. The Rugby men set and won the first leg 15-8. Northway then levelled in the next leg setting and winning it 16-8, however they could not repeat that in the final leg only mustering up a score of 9 which Rugby Club passed at ease with 17.
It was a long night at The White Hart against Red Lion Cassington when the first two legs went to three sticks. The opener was tied 6-6, Lion winning in on three sticks, second leg tied 7-7 and this time White Hart winning it on three sticks. The final and deciding leg Lion just won 13-12.
Catherine Wheel ‘B’ set the opening leg against Red Lion Yarnton with 15 and it seemed to be enough until up stepped Lion’s anchor man Nelson Smith who whipped off the four dolls needed to tie the leg to take it to three sticks which the Lion won. Catherine Wheel won the next leg 14-11 and in the deciding third leg Lion won 13-11. Nelson Smith top scored with 9 dolls 4-2-3.
