.REPORT WEEK 15
With three games to go The Black Prince have one hand on the Premier Section title after they beat their closest rivals The Swan ‘A’ at home 3-0. Prince started off on top form setting and winning the opening leg 28-23. Swan then decided to set in the second leg but could only muster up a score of 21. In reply Prince struggled not even reaching half the score after half the team had thrown, however a six from Roger Goodall brought them back on track but they still tottered to a total 23 to go two up. Final leg was tied 24-24 and in the three sticks shoot out set a formidable 15 which was more than enough to give them the maximum win. Goodall top scored with 15 dolls (5-6-4) while Keith Powell was top dog for The Swan with 14 dolls (5-5-4).
Kevin Giles impressive form continues as he clanged off 14 dolls (5-3-6) to guide The Gladiators ‘A’ to a 2-1 home win against New Club. Teammate, Martin Cooke chipped in with a baker’s dozen (3-6-4) in the leg scores of 27-22, 25-27, 29-26.
North Leigh FC were in top form when they whitewashed Garsington Sports Club 3-0. Chasing in every leg they won all three 27-26, 27-23, 28-23. Charlie Buckingham was in magnificent form clanging off 15 dolls (6-4-5) and teammate Jeff Glenister bagging himself a six in his 14-doll haul (3-6-5).
Section One leaders The Blackbird ‘B’ suffered a shock home defeat against The Ampleforth Arms ‘A’. They started off well winning the opening leg 17-13 before the Amp struck back in the next two legs 18-13, 17-16.

Section 2 leaders Red Lion ‘B’ were not in top form but just done enough to beat Donnington club ‘A’ who are propping up the table. In a low scoring game, the Lion won all three legs 12-10, 15-10, 18-16.
Second placed Six Bells ‘A’ dropped a valuable point at home to Vikings Sports ‘A’ in the leg scores of 18-15, 20-17, 18-14. Mick Holton top scored for The Vikings with 13 dolls (5-4-4)
The Gladiators ‘B’ winning run continues when they beat title challengers The Chequers ‘B’ 3-0 and in turn virtually extinguished the Chequers title hopes. The actual game was much closer than the score line suggests, and it was the one doll handicap that the Gladiators had that saw them win all three legs by that margin, 22-21, 18-17, 19-18. Ian Gillett whipped off a rare six for The Chequers.
Queens Head’s title hopes were well and truly ended when that crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Chequers ‘A’ 17-12, 20-17, 18-14.
Despite Mark Poulter hitting 13 dolls (4-5-4)Red Lion ‘A’ Yarnton also suffered a defeat to dent their dreams of the title at The Seacourt Bridge 2-1 in the leg scores of 19-16, 16-19, 22-20.

Section 3 leaders Blackbird ‘A’ six game winning run came to an abrupt halt when they lost at home to The Catherine Wheel 2-1. Chasing a set of 17 in the opening leg the leaders left father and son Yorkie & Tom Finney 8 to win, and they did not disappoint as they both clanged off four dolls apiece to snatch the leg by the odd doll with 18. However, that was to be their only success as Catherine Wheel won the next two legs 14-11, 13-11 thanks to some good throwing by Steve Tooke who hit 13 dolls (4-4-5).
Second place Masons Arms ‘A’ took full advantage of the leaders slip up by beating Red Lion Kidlington 3-0 on their own patch. It was a comfortable night for the Masons winning all three legs 18-11, 17-14, 19-15.
After losing six games on the bounce The George ‘B’ have turned it around and now recorded their third game on the run a hard thought 2-1 win at Donnington club ‘B’. They won the first two legs 14-10, 14-13 but couldn’t complete the whitewash when Donnington won the last leg 15-12.
Vikings Sports ‘B’ came away from The Cricketers Littleworth with a fine 3-0 winning all three legs 14-8, 18-12, 19-17.

Section 4 leaders Bletchington Sports eight game running win was stopped in its tracks when they lost 2-1 at The Tandem. A good score of 20 in the opening leg saw The Tandem take an early lead when the leaders could only set with 12. Bletchington levelled in the next leg 12-10. Final and deciding leg Tandem set and won 16-9.
Red Lion ‘B’ Yarnton move to within three points of the leaders when they beat visitors Duke of Monmouth 2-1 in the leg scores of 10-15, 18-9, 14-7.
Rose Hill Club had to come from behind to beat Six Bells ‘B’. Tony Elles was in tremendous form for Rose Hill hitting his best season score of 14 dolls 5-4-5. Bells won the first leg 15-12 with Rose Hill taking the next two legs 20-18, 17-5.
The Six Bells ‘C’ Kidlington rang the loudest as they beat Six Bells Quarry on their own alley. Damage was all done in the first two legs that Kidlington won 16-14, 15-13, Quarry set and won the final leg 15-12 to grab a deserved point.

The top two clashed in Section 5 and it was leaders Littlemore Rugby Club who came out on top against The Swan ‘C’. The Rugby club won the first leg 13-11 with The Swan winning the next by the same score. Final and deciding leg The Swan could only set 10 and in reply The rugby club passed that with ease with 14 to give them a one point lead at the top.
Northway Club ‘C’ came away from Red Lion Cassington with all three points, however it was a lot closer than the result implies. They won the opening leg at a canter 14-9, however they just sneaked the next two legs by the odd doll 8-7, 12-11.
White Horse scored more dolls than their visitors Cricketers Arms but still managed to lose the game 2-1. Cricketers set the first leg with 12 and in reply White Horse left anchor man Dave Spriggs needing only two to win, however he failed to trouble the doll to give the Cricketers an unexpected lead. Second leg White Horse set with 10 and this time in reply Cricketers anchor man Doug Mingham whipped off the three dolls needed to win the leg with 11. White Horse regrouped and set and won the last leg with an impressive 16-9.
Golden Ball came away from Northway Club ‘B’ with a hard fought 2-1 win in the leg scores of 14-11, 7-8, 12-11.
