The Swans march up the Premier table continues when they won their fourth game on the bounce against The George ‘A’ 3-0 and move to just four points behind the leaders Black Prince with a game in hand. Keith Powell (4-6-3) and Lee Thompson (4-4-5) led the way for the Swan as they won all three legs 24-20, 30-24, 24-15, while Kevin Stuart also hit a baker’s dozen (5-4-4) for The George.
Black Prince dropped a vital point at The Ampleforth Arms ‘A’ and it could have been worse. The opening leg Ampleforth set and won 26-24. Second leg Prince set with 25 and in reply to The Amp just fell short by the smallest of margins with 24. Black Prince secured victory in the final leg setting and winning it 27-23. Roger Goodall (3-5-5) and Mick Phipps (4-4-5) both threw well for their 13 dolls haul for The Prince.
Gladiators ‘A’ title ambitions were extinguished when they could only beat Garsington Sports Club 2-1. In a low scoring game Glad’s set and won the opening leg 25-24. Garsington hit straight back to level in the second leg 25-21 but could only set 19 in the final leg. Gladiators passed that with 22 for whom Kevin Giles is at last showing his true form with 13 dolls (5-3-5).
The Blackbird ‘B’ poor run continues as they lost their third game on the run but still lead Section 1. North Leigh FC came away with a 21- win in the leg scores of 27-18, 20-22, 24-20. Charlie Buckingham was top dog for North Leigh with 13 dolls (5-4-4).

In Section 2 Gladiators ‘B’ produced a shock when they defeated leaders Red Lion ‘B’ Kidlington 2-1 at home, and they had to do it the hard way after losing the opening leg 18-16. Glad’s levelled in the next leg 20-15 and then completed the turnaround in the final and deciding leg 22-15. Darren Cox bagged himself a six in his 11-doll haul for Gladiators.
Second place Six Bells ‘A’ failed to take advantage when they crashed to a 2-1 defeat at The Chequers ‘A’. Damage was done in the first two legs losing them both 22-15, 20-10, however they did manage to regroup and take a point in the final leg 23-17.
Donnington Club ‘A’ poor form continues when they lost for the fifth time in a row at Vikings ‘A’ 3-0, however the game was much closer than the score suggests. Vikings won the first leg 25-19, with Darren Trinder chipping in with a six. Vikings then set the second leg with 19 and in reply Donnington left their anchor man Steve Walton needing five to tie six to win and he almost secured the tie but fell one short with 4. Final leg Vikings set with 23 and this time Walton was left needing six to tie. Once again, he fell just short with five giving Vikings a 3-0 win. Walton top scored with a baker’s dozen (4-4-5). Darren Trinder, James Bennett & Mick Holton all hit a dozen dolls for Vikings.
Queens Head kept their title ambitions on track when they came away from Seacourt Bridge with a 2-1 win. They won the first two legs 19-15, 20-17 but couldn’t complete the whitewash when Seacourt snatched the final leg 20-17. Mark Tilling for The Seacourt was in tremendous form, hitting his season best score by clanging off 14 dolls (5-5-4).
Title challengers Red Lion ‘A’ Yarnton & Chequers ‘B’ clashed, and it was the Lion that roared the loudest to claim a hard fought 2-1 home victory. Winning the opening leg 25-17, Lion lost the next on three sticks after it was tied 15-15. In the final and deciding leg chasing a set of 17 Lion passed that with ease hitting 22 to hand them the win.

Section 3 leaders The Blackbird ‘A’ almost came unstuck at Donnington Club ‘B’ where they scored less dolls than their hosts (56-55) but still secured a 2-1 win in a close exciting game. Donnington won the first leg with 20 when chasing a set of 17. They then set 19 in the next leg, and in reply, Blackbird’s anchor man Tom Finney whipped off the three dolls needed to snatch the leg by the odd doll with 20. Final and deciding leg Donnington set 17 and once again Finney came to the Blackbird’s rescue when he hit the three dolls needed to give them a total of 18 and the win. Dale Macer was in fine form for Donnington hitting a dozen dolls (5-3-4).
Masons Arms ‘A’ are right on Blackbirds tail ready to pounce if they should slip up after coming from behind to beat Ampleforth Arms ‘B’ 2-1, leg scores being 14-18, 19-16, 17-12.
It was a long night at The Vikings ‘B’ against visitors Cowley Workers when two of the legs went to three sticks. Vikings set the opening leg with 15 and in reply Worker’s anchor man Eamon Hanlon hit the four dolls needed to sneak the leg with 16. The next two legs were tied 15-15, 14-14 with Vikings claiming them both on three sticks to give them victory in a very close game.
Red Lion ‘A’ Kidlington title ambitions took a massive hit when they lost 2-1 to The George ‘B’ who are languishing at the foot of the table. Having lost their previous six games this was a shock of a score. George won the opening leg 17-15, Lion levelled in the next 16-14 and then George set and won the deciding leg 16-15.
Cricketers Littleworth came away from The Catherine Wheel with a fine 2-1 win in the leg scores of 18-14,10-17,19-12.

Blecthington Sports Club still rule the roost in Section 4 and boosted their title dreams with a 3-0 home win against Masons ‘B’. It was fairly straightforward for the sports men winning all three legs 15-9, 14-11, 18-16.
Red Lion ‘B’ Yarnton hopes took a tumble when they crashed away at lowly Six Bells ‘C’ 2-1 in a close long night. Bells won the opener with an impressive 21-11. Second leg Bells won on three sticks after it was tied 12-12. Lion managed to secure a point in the final leg on one stick after it was tied 10-10. Clive Walsh for the Bells bagged himself a six, his first for many years.
Propping up the table Duke of Monmouth won their second game on the bounce when they beat Kidlington FC on their own turf. It started off well for the football club winning the first leg 17-15, however that was to be their only success as The Duke hit straight back to win the next two legs 16-11, 16-14. Daryl Connelly was in top form for Kidlington with 13 dolls (4-4-5).
The Six Bells Quarry rang the loudest when they beat hosts Six Bells ‘B’ Kidlington 2-1 in the leg scores of 16-14, 18-20, 15-14. Billy Geddes hit a six for Bells Quarry while Simon Hopkins top scored for Bells Kidlington with a dozen dolls (3-5-4).

In Section 5, Littlemore Rugby Clubs fine form continues after they came away from the Golden Ball with maximum points. After wining the first two legs 11-8, 14-13 they excelled in the final leg 20-14.
Only one doll separated The Cricketers Cowley and Northway ‘C’ all night (42-41) in a tense close game. The first leg was tied 14-14 with Cricketers claiming the leg on three sticks. Northway levelled in the next leg by the smallest of margins 14-13. Chasing a set of 13 in the final leg Cricketers secured victory with 15 in reply.
Swan 'C' threw well as a team as they beat Red Lion Cassington 3-0 in the leg scores of 18-10, 13-7, 15-9.
