Gladiators A amassed a sensational ninety six dolls in their home clash against The Swan A. Chasing a set of 22 in the opening leg they stormed pass that with a reply of 34 with Geoff Townsend and Kevin Baker both hitting sixes. The Glad’s then set and won the next leg with another 34 to The Swan’s 24 in reply. They then secured maximum points in the final leg 28-24. Andy Beal (4-5-5) Geoff Townsend (6-4-4) and Kevin Baker (6-4-4) all hit fourteen dolls, with Keith Weller chipping in with thirteen dolls (4-5-4).
Pip Goulding was in top form for The New Club A with fourteen dolls (6-4-4) as they took maximum points at home to The Woodman. Pete Shepherd chipped in with thirteen dolls (4-5-4) in the leg scores of 31-21, 30-22, 24-20.
Six Bells A Quarry are finding it tough in the top section after their third straight defeat however they are only just falling short each time. Playing at The Black Prince they lost the first leg 23-21 and the second 25-23. In the third leg they tied 21-21 but lost out on the three sticks. Rob Bradford bagged himself a six in his thirteen dolls haul (6-5-2) for The Prince.

In Section 2 Chris Webb from Gladiators B clanged off fourteen dolls (5-4-5) as they came from behind to win 2-1 at The Red Lion A Kidlington. The Lion set and won the opening leg 20-18 but that was to be their only success as The Glad’s came back well to take the next two legs 17-15, 17-13.
Only one doll separated Queens Head and Six Bells A Kidlington (54-53) and it proved to be decisive as Queens Head won 2-1 , 17-19, 19-17, 18-17.
The Swan B Eynsham started off like a steam train in the home game against The Crown, winning the opening leg with an impressive 28-12. Crown levelled in the next leg 18-15 with The Swan coming back well to win the deciding leg 25-22. Mark Revill was top dog for The Swan with thirteen dolls (6-3-3).

It was unlucky thirteen for Dave Green as he clanged off a baker’s dozen (4-5-4) for Chequers C in Section 3 but it could not prevent them from going down 2-1 at Florence Park A in the scores of 19-18, 12-25, 24-20.

The Cricketers Arms got their first win under their belt in Section 4 with a 2-1 win at Masons Arms B. They lost the opening leg 14-16 but came back well to win the next two legs 21-19, 17-12.

In Section 5 The Black Swans Tony O’Brien came to their rescue away at The Swan C Eynsham. With the game poised at one each Swan set fifteen in the final leg. In reply Black Swan left O’Brien needing five to win, he almost succeeded falling one short with four but it was enough to send it to a three stick shootout which the Black Swan won.
North Oxford Con Club A were fortunate to get maximum points at home to Red Lion B Marston. They raced to an early lead winning the first two legs 13-11, 14-9 and then were set eleven in the last leg. Needing one to win in reply, the clubmen’s anchor man Mick Richardson blobbed out, sending the leg to three sticks. Luckily they recovered well to win the three stick shoot out.

In Section 7 Red Lion B Cassington scored more dolls than their visitors Northway Club A (40-37) but still lost out 2-1. Northway won the first leg by the odd doll 14-13 but had to rely on a three stick shoot out in the next after it was tied 10-10. The Lion came back well to win the last leg 17-13. Andy Perrin top scored with ten dolls (4-3-3).
Local derby between Bullnose Morris B & Florence Park Club B was a close affair. The Club men took an early lead winning the first leg 15-13. The second leg was a long one after it was tied 8-8, three stick and one stick throws could not separate them so it was back to six sticks which The Bullnose won. Florence Park set the final and deciding leg with thirteen but it was not enough as Bullnose flew past with 19 to win the leg and game.

In Section 9 newcomers Bletchingdon Sports Club are holding their own and secured their second victory away at The Original Swan B 3-0. Walter Harwood top scored with ten dolls (3-3-4) as they won the first two legs 13-9, 16-14, and the final leg on three sticks after it was tied 10-10.
