Week 4

There were four sixes hit by The Six Bells’C’ Kidlington in their game away at Rose Hill Club ‘A’. Alan Goodgame led the way with sixteen dolls (5-6-5) closely followed by team mates Ray Townsend with fifteen dolls (5-6-4), Steve Ward fourteen dolls (4-4-6) and Roger Goodall twelve dolls (6-3-3) as they won all three legs 33-18, 31-22, 27-24.
Kevin Giles bagged himself a brace of sixes in his sixteen doll haul (6-4-6) to guide The Three Pigeons to another 3-0 win, this time at The New Club ‘A’. Pigeons won the opening leg 30-23 but had to rely on a three stick shoot out in the second leg after it was tied 24-24. They then took maximum points in the final leg 29-24.
Fourteen dolls from Kevin Baker (5-5-4) helped The Cricketers ‘B’ beat The Red Lion ‘A’ Eynsham 2-1. They powered into a 2-0 lead with high leg scores of 32-23, 34-25 , however Red Lion came back well in the final leg to win it 29-24.

In Section 2 Team Monarch got their first win of the season under their belts with a 3-0 win at home to The Griffin. Darren Cox was top dog with thirteen dolls (4-5-4) as they won all three legs 19-18, 21-18, 18-14.
Ampleforth Arms ‘A’ remain unbeaten with a 2-1 win at Red Lion ‘B’ Eynsham. Stuart Bishop (6-5-2) and Mark Washington (5-4-4) both hit a baker’s dozen to steer them home 28-17, 22-19, 22-24.

Bullnose Morris ‘A’ top Section 3 by beating Tiddington Cricket Club 3-0. They took the opening leg on three sticks after it was tied 18-18 but then comfortably won the next two legs 26-19, 24-20. Willy Waite top scored with a dozen dolls (4-3-5).
There was very little to choose between Vikings Sports ‘A’ and Six Bells ‘A’ Kidlington. The Bells set the first leg with 18 and after a steady reply Vikings anchor man Pete Kennett was left needing four to win the leg which he obliged with a stick to spare. The next leg Vikings set with 17 and this time The Bells anchor man Tony Nicholls was left needing all six to win the leg, which he nearly pulled off ending just one short with five to send the leg to three sticks, which The Bells won. The final and deciding leg went to The Vikings 18-16.

In Section 5 Donnington Club ‘C’ Clifford Lewis hit a rare six in hit ten dolls (3-1-6) as they beat Vikings Sports ‘D’ 2-1 in the leg scores of 17-14, 9-15, 21-18.

Red Lion ‘C’ inflicted the first defeat for Ampleforth Arms ‘B’ in Section 6 with a 2-1 home win. They won the opening leg 15-11 but Ampleforth levelled in the next leg 16-10. Lion taking the final leg and game 18-15.

In Section 7 Six Bells ‘B’ Kidlington went to town in their home game against basement boys Catherine Wheel ‘A’ winning all three legs easily 19-9, 19-15, 15-12. Warwick Morris was top dog with eleven dolls (4-5-2).

Chequers ‘C’ and Marston British Legion both hit 44 dolls apiece however it was The Chequers who triumphed 2-1 in a very close contest in Section 8. Chequers won the first leg by the odd doll 17-16 with the Legion also winning by the odd doll in the next leg 15-14. The deciding leg was tied 13-13 with The Chequers snatching it on three sticks.
Florence Park ‘B’ gained their first win of the season at Red Lion ‘B’ Cassington but had to come from behind to secure victory. They lost the first leg 11-8 but came back well to win the next two 16-11, 14-8.

In Section 9 a very close game between Original Swan ‘C’ and Florence Park ‘A’ saw the latter win 2-1 with only a doll separating them. Swan won the first leg by the odd doll 10-9 with Florence Park drawing level in the next leg also by the odd doll 11-10. The final and deciding leg was no different and was decided by one doll going to Florence Park 10-9.

Kidlington Football Club still lead the pack in Section 10 with a 2-1 win over Headington Con Club in the leg scores of 13-5, 10-12, 17-6.
