REPORT FROM MATCHES PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY 21st AUGUST
Jeff Glenister was in sensational form as he clanged off a brace of sixes in his sixteen doll haul for The Griffin in Section 2. Team mate Pete Hitchman chipped in with a bakers dozen (4-4-5) as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at The Black Prince ‘B’. They won the first two legs 21-17, 23-19 and in the final leg hit their best ever score of 30 after chasing a set of 19.

Cricketers ‘B’ secured The Premier Section title after coming from behind to beat The New Club ‘A’ 2-1. They lost the opening leg 26-25 and then were set 25 in the second leg. After a slow reply Cricketers left anchor man Geoff Townsend needing five to win the leg, and he did not disappoint whipping off the winning doll with his last stick to level the game 26-25. New Club set the final leg with a respectable 28 but Cricketers were up to the task and passed it with ease with 31. Townsend top scored with fourteen dolls (4-5-5) while Tony Bradford was top dog for The New Club with thirteen (3-4-6).
Three Pigeons move into second spot after demolishing Garsington Sports Club ‘A’ 3-0. Neil Lyon led the way with fifteen dolls (4-5-6) and was well supported by Kevin Giles (3-6-4) and Paul Townsend (5-3-5) who both hit thirteen dolls as they won all three legs 32-27, 29-23, 30-25. Garry Smith threw well for the Sportsmen with fourteen dolls (5-4-5).
Gladiators need just two more points to secure the Section One title after beating The Six Bells ‘C’ Kidlington 2-1. They had to do it the hard way as they lost the first leg 32-20 but came back well to win the next two legs 26-22, 27-23.
Dave Bowler smashed off fifteen dolls (5-5-5) for Vikings Sports ‘B’ as they beat Red Lion ‘A’ Eynsham 2-1. They won the first two legs 27-25, 29-26 but lost the last leg on three sticks after it was tied 27-27.

Red Lion ‘B’ Yarnton still lead Section 3 despite dropping a leg at The Queens Head ‘A’. They went into an early two nil lead 25-13, 22-12 but collapsed in the final leg losing it 19-16. Mark Poulter was top man for Red Lion with thirteen dolls (5-5-3) while team mate Eric Green could only muster a 1& 1 in his first two throws and then clanged off a maximum six in his final throw.

It’s still very tight at the top of Section 4 and leaders The Original Swan enhanced their prospects with a 3-0 win at Garsington Sports ‘B’. John Henigan led the way with eleven dolls (3-5-3) as they won all three legs 23-19, 20-17, 18-13.
The Crown remains one point behind after they won at home to The Masons Arms ‘A’ 2-1. They won the first two legs 18-17, 14-11 but failed to claim maximum points in the final leg losing it 15-16.

Vikings Sports ‘C’ claimed the Section 5 title with a 3-0 at The Democrats. After winning the first two legs 20-16, 19-10 they were set 16 in the final leg. They left anchor man Martyn Boulton five to win and with it the title, Boulton went one better by clanging off all six to give them the leg and section win.
Craig Disley was in exceptional form as he hit fourteen dolls (5-5-4) for The Queens Head ‘B’ in their 3-0 win at Masons Arms ‘B’. The hosts set 19 in the opening leg with The Queens Head replying with 20 who then went on to win the next two legs 20-14, 17-9.

Donnington Club ‘C’ still sit top of Section 6 after a comfortable 3-0 at home to The Priory. The result was never in doubt as they took all three legs 18-14, 14-11, 15-11.
Second place Red Lion ‘A’ Kidlington roared the loudest as they beat The Red Lion ‘C’ Eynsham 2-1. After losing the first leg 15-11 the Kidlington men came back well to win the next two 19-17, 15-9.

Section 7 leaders Cricketers Arms ‘A’ defeated Donnington Club ‘B’ 3-0 to keep their title chances intact. Steve Cristy hit his first six of the season as they ran out winners 20-18, 21-13, 17-14.

Rose Hill Club ‘B’ dented The Bullnose Morris ‘B’ Section 8 title ambitions with a 2-1 home win. Rose Hill won the first leg 13-11 with The Bullnose levelling in the next leg 14-12. The final and deciding leg Rose Hill took 17-11.
Six Bells ’B’ Kidlington threw well to beat Florence Park 3-0. Seamus O’Malley led the way with eleven dolls (3-4-4) as they took maximum points in the leg scores of 16-11, 13-9, 13-9.

North Oxford Con Club ‘B’ are champions of Section 9 after an easy win over closest rivals Kings Arms 3-0. They won all three legs 17-13, 18-14, 16-13.
Original Swan ‘B’ scored more dolls than their opponents The Blackbird (36-33) but they still lost 2-1 despite winning the first leg 16-10. Blackbird won the next two legs 14-11, 11-9.
Chris Cox hit double figures for The Kite (5-3-2) as they came from behind to beat Red Lion ‘A’ Cassington 2-1 in the leg scores of 11-14, 16-14, 13-9.

Kennington Social Club ‘B’ can be crowned Section 10 winners next week after coming away from Red Lion ‘C’ Kidlington with maximum points. Richard Dunham top scored with ten dolls (3-4-3) as they won all three legs 14-10, 16-8, 16-14).
Cricketers Littleworth threw well to hit a total of 53 dolls in their 3-0 home win over The Corner House. Colin Jeffs was top dog with eleven dolls (3-5-3) as they won all three legs 17-7, 18-5, 18-11.
