REPORT FROM MATCHES PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY 11th JULY

Kevin Baker (Cricketers’ B’) made it a record season for double sixers as he clanged off fifteen dolls (6-6-3) as they beat Red Lion ‘A Eynsham 2-1 in the Premier Section. Cricketers won the first two legs 32-24,34-32 with Red Lion grabbing a point in the final leg 30-28. Barry Townsend (5-5-4) and Philip Adams (3-5-6) chipped in with fourteen dolls apiece for The Cricketers.
Paul Holt was in amazing form as he bagged himself a six in his sixteen doll haul (5-5-6) for The Red Lion ‘B’ Kidlington in their 3-0 win over The Gladiators ‘A’. Red Lion comfortably won all three legs 27-21, 26-14, 28-23.

The Section Two clash between Ampleforth Arms and Vikings ‘A’ produced a very close contest with only one doll separating the teams. Ampleforth won the opening leg 24-22 and only just got the better over The Vikings in the next leg by the odd doll 24-23. The final leg was tied 22-22 with Vikings winning it on three sticks 8-7.
It was a long night in the game between The Woodman and Six Bells Quarry as two of the legs were tied. Woodman gained an early lead winning the first leg 20-18. The second leg was tied 18-18 and went to three sticks. This was also tied 11-11 as was the one stick shoot out 3-3. So back to six sticks which The Woodman won 23-21. The third and final leg was also tied 20-20 with Six Bells grabbing a point in the three sticks 10-9.

Jonny McMahon threw his best sticks for many years as he clanged off a dozen dolls (4-5-3) to steer Section Three leaders The Bullnose Morris ‘A’ to a 3-0 home win over Three Horseshoes in the leg scores of 24-14, 20-17, 17-11.

Its very tight in Section Five with only six points separating nine of the ten teams its North Oxford Con Club ‘A’ that lead the way, but they had a scare away at bottom club Chequers ‘B’. They scrapped by in the opening leg by the odd doll 18-17 but Chequers shocked the leaders by taking the next leg 21-20. The Con club restored order in the final and deciding leg 21-14. Mick Richardson was top dog with a dozen dolls (4-4-4).

In Section 6 Lee Anderson was the hero for Red Lion ‘A’ Kidlington against The Gladiators ‘B’. With the game nicely poised at one all The Glad’s set eighteen in the final leg. In The Red Lion’s reply they left anchor man Anderson six to win and he did not disappoint as he clanged off all six to claim an exciting win.
Leaders Quarry Gate suffered a setback in their title ambitions as they lost way at Red Lion Wolvercote 2-1. Quarry started of well winning the first leg 18-13 but then crashed dramatically in the next leg 13-10, and on three sticks in the final leg after it was tied 10-10.
Middle of the table clash between King & Queen ‘B’ and Florence Park ‘A’ was a close and tense affair. The opening leg was won by King & Queen on three sticks after it was tied 17-17. Florence Park levelled in the second leg 14-13 with King & Queen finally claiming victory in the final leg 16-9.

Three teams tie at the top of Section 7 and the top two Nut Tree & Red Lion Islip clashed in a very tight contest. They both scored forty two dolls with Red Lion taking a early lead winning the first leg on three sticks after it was tied 14-14. Nut Tree levelled in the next leg 15-13. Red Lion secured victory in the final leg 15-13.

In Section 9 Matthew Arnold was in devastating form as he whipped off fourteen dolls including a six (4-4-6) for leaders The Crown Chalgrove in their 3-0 win at The Crown ‘B’ Otmoor. After a tight opening leg 17-14 the leaders made sure of maximum points in the next two legs 21-9, 17-12. Rob Bustin threw well for The Crown Otmoor with a dozen dolls (5-4-6).
The White Hart’s anchor man Buster Glenn failed to trouble the doll in their opening leg against The Kite ‘A’ but redeemed himself in the next leg when he hit the three dolls needed to tie the leg (12-12) which they then went onto to win in the three sticks throw off. However The Kite won the final leg 11-6.

In Section 10 Richard Berry bagged himself a six in his ten doll haul in their 3-0 home win over The Bullnose ‘B’ in the leg scores of 22-15, 16-13, 15-12.

***The Chandos Arms has not shut as stated last week. The ‘B’ team has moved to The Pheasant Inn Brill ,but the ‘A’ team still play at The Chandos.****
