Garsington Sports Ken Maunder came to close to hitting the magical 18 when he clanged off the doll with his first fifteen sticks, but missed the next two and then hit his last to end up with a haul of sixteen. Despite this they still went down 2-1 to The Three Pigeons, 30-29, 30-31, 26-29. Paul Townsend top scored for The Pigeons with fourteen dolls (4-5-5).
John Horton whipped off a bakers dozen (3-5-5) as The Black Swan defeated The George 2-1. The first leg was tied 27-27 with The Black Swan winning it on three sticks. They then went 2-0 up in the next leg 29-27 before The George grabbed a point in the final leg 31-25. John Weller bagged himself a six in his thirteen dolls (4-3-6) for The George.
Ian Grant was another six hitter as he hit fourteen dolls (4-6-4) for The Six Bells Kidlington in their 3-0 win over Headington British Legion.

In Section 2 Alan Holt (4-5-4) and David Leopold (6-1-5) steered the Punch Bowl to a 2-1 win at The Woodman Inn. They won the opening leg 20-15 but lost the next leg 22-15, they then secured victory in the final leg 24-21.
The Squire Bassett scored more dolls than their opponents The Six Bells Quarry but still lost! Six Bells won the opening leg 22-18 and then collapsed in the next leg scoring only 10 to The Squires 21. The final and deciding leg went to the Six Bells by the odd doll 22-21.

The Royal Sun came away from The Ampleforth Arms with maximum points in Section 3 but the game was a lot closer than the score suggests. The first leg was tied 18-18 with The Royal Sun winning it on three sticks, then only took the second leg by the odd doll 20-19. A six from Dave Homer, who ended up with fourteen dolls (5-3-6) helped them win the final leg 24-18.
It was not unlucky for The Three Horseshoes Andy Bradford in his thirteen dolls (3-5-5) as they beat Tiddington Cricket Club 2-1. The first leg went to The Cricket men 23-21, but The Three Horseshoes came back well to win the next two legs 17-15, 22-15.

Danny Brown was in top form as he hit fifteen dolls (6-4-5) to help The Seacourt Bridge win all three legs 19-15, 23-20, 18-13 at home to The Masons Arms in Section 4
Arthur Yardy hit a rare six for The Fairview as they came from behind to beat Garsington Sports Club B 2-1. The Sportsmen won the first leg 17-10 but lost the next 21-17. Fairview set the final and deciding leg with 17 which proved to be just enough as Garsington fell one short with 16.

In Section 5 Brian Simpson banged in thirteen dolls (4-4-5) as Donnington Club just beat The Chandos Arms B 2-1. With the first two legs shared 20-14, 23-21 Donnington won the last leg 19-17.

Quarry Gate proved too strong for The Catherine Wheel A in Section 6 and had a comfortable 3-0 home win. Eric Taylor (5-6-2) and Mick Jones (5-4-3) led the way in the leg scores of 24-12, 20-16, 19-11.
The Nut Tree’s anchor man Martin Pratley had mixed fortunes in their 3-0 win away at The Black Bull. Chasing a set of 11 Pratley was left needing one to win but failed to trouble the doll to send the leg into a three stick shoot out, which fortunately The Nut Tree won. Chasing 15 in the next leg, once again Pratley was left needing one to win, but this time he made no mistake and clanged off four dolls. Maximum points were made in the final leg 11-7.
It was unhappy birthday wishes for Golden Ball’s Brian Lovatt as he failed to hit the doll all night but his team still managed to beat Vikings ‘C’ 2-1 in a very close encounter. Both sides hit 38 dolls apiece as the Golden Ball won the first two legs 14-13, 11-10. Vikings won the last leg 15-13.

In Section 11 the first two legs between The Original Swan ‘C’ and The Kite were tied 7-7 & 9-9 with The Swan winning them both on three sticks. Kite grabbed a consolation point in the final leg 15-11.
