Paul Holt was in devastating form as he clanged off fifteen dolls (5-5-5) to guide The Squire Bassett to a 3-0 victory at The Punch Bowl in Section 2. They won all three legs 24-20, 26-18, 22-17.
Ted Houghton hit his best ever score for many a year as he hit fourteen dolls (5-5-4) for The Red Lion Brill as they beat The Chequers ‘A’ 2-1.The first leg was tied 24-24 with The Red Lion taking it on three sticks. They then won the next leg 23-19 with The Chequers grabbing a point in the final leg 21-19. Peter Bailey & Richard Dun both hit a dozen dolls (5-4-3) for The Chequers.
The Six Bells Quarry Steve Brandon hit a rare six in his dozen dolls but they still lost out to The White Hart ‘B’ 2-1. White Hart easily won the first two legs 17-10, 21-15 but Six Bells rallied in the final leg wining it 23-19.

In The Premier Section it was a very long night between The Six Bells ‘C’ Kidlington & White Hart ‘A’. The first leg was tied 25-25 and the three stick shoot out was also tied 10-10. Down to one stick White Hart set an incredible five which The Six Bells also hit, so back to six sticks which White Hart set 27. Six Bells was up to the task and snatched the leg by the odd doll with 28. The next leg was tied 21-21 and in the three sticker Six Bells banged in an unbeatable score of eighteen which White Hart could not match. Final leg went to The White Hart 28-21. Roger Goodall top scored with thirteen (4-4-5).
Three players from The George bagged themselves a six, Francis Hillier (6-4-3), Steve Walton (6-3-4) and Willy Waite (3-6-3) but they still went down to Garsington Sports Club 2-1 for whom Garry Smith clanged off a six in his thirteen doll haul (3-4-6). The Sports men set the opening leg with 31 but The George responded well with 35 to take an early lead. The George set the next leg with 32 but a five from anchor man Tommy Recht saw Garsington win the leg with 33. George set the final and deciding leg with 25 and once again Recht came to the rescue with three dolls to win the leg and match by the odd doll with 26.
Eddie Edwards and Neil Lyon both hit fifteen dolls (4-6-5) for The Three Pigeons as they beat the Cricketers 2-1. The Pigeons had the game sewn up in the first two legs winning them 26-24, 28-27.
Cricketers set the final leg with 25 and after a poor reply The Pigeons last three players were left needing seventeen to tie and they almost pulled it off but fell short with sixteen to lose the leg by one doll. Den Seller top scored for The Cricketers with fourteen (4-6-4).

Three Horseshoes move up to second spot in Section 3 thanks to some impressive throwing from Phil Jackson (3-4-6) and Andy Lewis (3-6-4) as they beat The Ampleforth Arms 2-1 in a close game. Horseshoes won the opening leg 23-19 but lost the next 24-19 before bagging a win in the final leg 26-22. Mark Washington was top dog for The Ampleforth with thirteen dolls (4-5-4).

In Section 5 Brian Fell hit his first ever maximum six for The King & Queen but they still lost to The Folly Bridge 3-0, 18-12, 20-19, 25-12.
Ian Sharp led the way for The Chandos Arms as he whipped off fourteen dolls (5-6-3) in their 2-1 win at The Queens Head. They had to come from behind as the lost the opening leg 22-18 won the next 22-12 and in the final leg won it by one doll 19-18.

Catherine Wheel ‘A’ stunned Section Six leaders The Nelson by winning the opening leg 20-15, and overall scoring more dolls. However The Nelson won the next two legs by the odd doll 18-17, 16-15 to give them a hard fought win. Ken Stimpson hit eleven dolls (4-4-3) for The Catherine Wheel.
The Black Bull demolished second place Quarry Gate 3-0. Lee Anderson showed them the way with a dozen dolls (4-4-4) as they won all three legs 15-9, 18-15, 20-13.

The top two clashed in Section 7 and it was Kidlington Sports who came out on top against Northway Club despite losing the first leg 17-13. The Sportsmen came back well to take the next two legs 17-14, 13-9.

In Section 8 Ray Barson was in top form for The Red Lion ‘B’ Cassington with twelve dolls (5-4-3) in their 3-0 defeat over Donnington Arms. They won the first leg on three sticks after the leg was tied 11-11 and then easily won the second leg 16-9 and took maximum points in the final leg 12-10.

In Section 11 The Kings Arms Paul Fletcher hit double figures with ten dolls (3-5-2) as the defeated The Original Swan ‘C’ 2-1. They lost the first leg 10-8 but banged in a 17 in the next leg to The Swans 5 and then won the final leg 13-6.
